Brick salesman turns NFL star
Jake Bates has once again solidified his position in the NFL kicking position, kicking more than 50 yards for two consecutive weeks, earning widespread recognition from coach Dan Campbell. Bates is currently the only kicker on the Detroit Lions roster, but his journey to becoming an NFL star is magical.
In 2023, Bates was not drafted and was cut by the Houston Texans in training camp in August of that year. He thought he would never have the chance to wear an nfl jersey again. To make a living, he became a brick salesman for Acme Brick. Soon, however, the Panthers extended an olive branch to him, and Bates gladly accepted. This decision could change his life.
Bates performed well there, earning All-UFL honors, and used this as a springboard to get a chance to wear a Detroit Lions jerseys. In his rookie season, he kicked 29 balls for the Lions, hitting 26, and became one of the best players of the Detroit Lions. The rapid rise of Bates has undoubtedly become the pride of Acme Brick Company.
